When it comes to our heritage, it appears some Singaporeans placed more importance on colonial-era buildings than post-independence Singaporean architecture. They even described several of the latter sites, such as Pearl Bank Apartments , Jurong Town Hall and the Dakota Crescent dove playground, as "ugly" or "rundown".

This was revealed during the Institute of Policy Studies' (IPS) Social Lab's focus group sessions with 51 Singaporeans aged 21 to 78 last year.
