Sri Lankans living in Singapore hope that a state of emergency imposed in their country three days ago will finally stop communal violence that has already claimed at least two lives.

Recruitment consultant Sujathe Samarakkody comes from Kandy, the capital of Kandy district where most of the fighting between Sinhalese Buddhists and Muslims is centred.
