Norwegian Minister for Foreign Affairs Borge Brende was in Singapore on a two-day working visit, which ended yesterday.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, who hosted Mr Brende to lunch on Tuesday, in a Facebook post said the two discussed the challenges that both countries face as small states in a fast-changing world.

They also reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations between both countries, and exchanged views on recent regional and international developments, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Singapore welcomes Norway's interest to work closely with us and Asean," said Dr Balakrishnan, adding that the Republic appreciated Norway's "strong support" for its observership in the Arctic Council and its respective international candidatures.

Mr Brende also met Minister for Home Affairs and Law K. Shanmugam yesterday, before departing for Myanmar.
