SINGAPORE - FOR excellence in areas ranging from design to digital content, Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) received nine awards at this year's Asian Publishing Awards.
Two gold and six excellence awards went to its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH Magazines, while Chinese flagship newspaper Lianhe Zaobao, won one excellence award at the Asian publishing competition. The results were announced online last week.
SPH Magazines won gold for Icon Moments, a publication by Chinese luxury lifestyle magazine Icon Magazine, and a feature in SilverKris, published by SPH Magazines for Singapore Airlines. They won the Best Use of Design, Layout and Presentation as well as the Best Feature on Asian Travel respectively.
Icon Magazine, SilverKris, The Peak, and Female also won six excellence awards in various categories including best cover design, best multimedia integration and best use of design, layout and presentation.
Ms Joanna Lee-Miller, group editor of luxury titles and custom publishing for SPH Magazines, said: "It is extremely gratifying for the winning teams at SPH Magazines to be acknowledged by industry experts for their constant and tireless efforts to raise the editorial and design bar. ICON and SilverKris, which clinched gold awards, prove they stand at the vanguard of luxury and travel in their respective magazine categories."
Meanwhile, Lianhe Zaobao's I Report won an excellence award for the Best Use of UGC (user-generated content). Launched in February, I Report is a function in the daily's mobile phone app which lets users submit news tip-offs to the paper.
Mr Goh Sin Teck, Lianhe Zaobao's editor, said: "I Report uses digital media to create content for our various platforms including print. It is another successful innovation from our team and an important milestone in our efforts to strengthen our relationship with our readers."
This year's Asian Publishing Awards saw a total of 184 projects from 22 publishing companies in seven countries vying for the awards.
