Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob to make official visit to Malaysia

SINGAPORE - The Speaker of the Singapore Parliament, Madam Halimah Yacob, will make an official visit to Malaysia from Wednesday to Friday at the invitation of Malaysia's Speaker of the Parliament, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Pandikar Amin Hj Mulia.

The visit will reaffirm the close and friendly relations between Singapore and Malaysian parliamentarians, said the clerk of parliament in a press statement.

Madam Halimah will be accompanied by a delegation of four Members of Parliament, comprising Mr Baey Yam Keng, Dr Lim Wee Kiak, Dr Intan Azura Mokhtar, and Ms Tin Pei Ling.

She will call on Speaker Pandikar, who will host her to an official lunch. She will also tour the Parliament House and observe a Parliament sitting.

In addition, Madam Halimah will call on President of the Senate, Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang, and meet Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in-charge of Parliamentary Affairs, Dato' Seri Dr Shahidan bin Kassim, Minister for Women, Family and Community Development, Dato' Sri Rohani binti Haji Abdul Karim, and Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on Women Entrepreneurship and Professional Development, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

Madam Halimah will also meet the Singaporean community in Malaysia at a reception hosted by the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.
