SINGAPORE - Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob will be making her introductory visit to Cambodia from Wednesday to Friday.

Her visit marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Cambodia.

During the visit, Madam Halimah will call on her counterpart, the President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, Heng Samrin, who will host her to an official dinner, the Office of the Clerk of Parliament said in a statement on Tuesday.

In addition, Madam Halimah will call on Prime Minister Hun Sen and Acting Senate President Say Chhum. She will also meet the Singaporean community at a lunch reception to be hosted by the Singapore Embassy in Phnom Penh.

"Singapore enjoys good diplomatic ties with Cambodia which was one of the first countries to recognise our independence. Through this visit, Speaker Halimah hopes to further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries," the statement said.

Madam Halimah will be accompanied by Members of Parliament Dr Lily Neo, Mr Patrick Ang and Mr Vikram Nair.
