Police have arrested two men after a sofa thrown from a fourth-floor flat narrowly missed a passer-by.
A woman in her 40s was walking past Block 492 Jurong West Street 41 on New Year's Eve when the two-seater sofa landed in front of her, Chinese evening paper Shin Min Daily reported.
She rushed to the void deck and called police at around 1.20pm.
Officers were seen searching the area and questioning three men. One of them was released while the other two were arrested. Investigations are ongoing.
The Straits Times understands that the men appeared to be in their early 20s and had claimed innocence, saying they dropped the sofa while attempting to move it for a friend.
The case is the latest in a spate of so-called "killer litter" incidents last month.
A man was arrested on Dec 26 for throwing various items including an air cooler, a glass tank, buckets and a microwave oven from the seventh floor of Block 8, St George's Lane, where he lived.
This came after two brothers aged 10 and 11 were arrested for allegedly throwing a small speaker and a vehicle battery from their flat along Dover Road.
A 15-year-old boy was also recently arrested by police for allegedly throwing a brick and injuring a passer-by from his flat in Eunos Crescent.
