SMS Chee Hong Tat visits SPH newsrooms on first day of Chinese New Year

SINGAPORE - Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information and Health Chee Hong Tat visited Singapore Press Holdings newsrooms on Friday (Feb 16), the first day of the Chinese New Year.

Mr Chee extended his new year greetings to journalists working in The Straits Times and Zaobao newsrooms, and handed out oranges and hongbaos.

He also gave his take on the importance of the mainstream media.

"It's about providing trusted, reliable, accurate, objective information to our readers, to our viewers, and in a manner that can inform them, can engage them," he said.

He mentioned four Cs that are important for newsrooms: Content, new and traditional channels to disseminate information, capabilities to invest in and collaboration with other companies.

He also visited healthcare workers at National University Hospital on Friday.

"Visited our healthcare workers at the National University Hospital - NUH to wish them happy new year and thank them for their hard work to look after our patients, including on public holidays,"he wrote in a Facebook post.
