SingPost launches goat-themed stamps to celebrate Year of the Goat

SINGAPORE - Local postal services company SingPost has released a set of stamps featuring illustrations of goats to usher in the Chinese New Year.

The latest set is the eighth in the series, issued yearly to depict the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac.

Chinese New Year is celebrated on the first day of the lunar calendar, which falls on Feb 19 this year. Based on the Chinese animal zodiac, this is the Year of the Goat.

A complete set of three stamps will cost $2.30, while a limited-edition collectors' sheet costs $16.80, said SingPost in a statement on Wednesday.

The stamps will be on sale at all post offices and the Singapore Philatelic Museum from Friday onwards. They can also be purchased online at www.stampdelight.com

The stamps were designed by local stamp designer Leo Teck Chong, who has done others in the zodiac series. The illustrations are based on a design concept of "roundness", which signifies fullness, wealth and prosperity.
