SINGAPORE - Despite the deepest recession since Singapore's independence in 1965, Singaporeans gave in record sums to charity through online donation platforms in the pandemic year of 2020.

Giving.sg received $93.4 million last year - a record sum and more than twice the sum collected in 2019. On Dec 31 alone, it collected $2.5 million - the largest amount netted in one day.
