Singapore welcomes Iran's framework deal with world powers

SINGAPORE - Singapore welcomed the framework deal on Iran's nuclear programme and commended the efforts of all parties involved.

But it noted that much work remains to be done, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman said yesterday, in response to media queries on the agreement announced on Thursday.

"The next stage of negotiations will be critical and we strongly urge all parties to capitalise on the positive momentum to reach a final and comprehensive agreement by June 30, 2015," the spokesman said.

"A comprehensive and negotiated solution is the best way forward.

"While Iran has the right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy, it must address the legitimate concerns of the international community about the nature of its nuclear programme."
