The plans of several Singapore travellers have been affected by news that the resort island of Boracay in the Philippines would be closed for six months from April 26.

Some airlines with flights from Singapore to the town of Kalibo - which many people travel to before heading to Boracay island - were also caught off guard by the announcement by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday night.
