Singapore National Games kicks off; nearly 8,000 athletes to compete

SINGAPORE - The second edition of the Singapore National Games (SNG) kicked off on Saturday morning with a mass run involving 1,000 runners. The 4.4 route, flagged off by Mr. Lim Teck Yin, chief executive of Sport Singapore, and representatives from various National Sports Associations, took participants around the National Stadium.

Close to 8,000 athletes, from weekend warriors to aspiring professionals, representing the five zones of the country - North, East, West, Central and North East, will compete across 12 sports, such as basketball and dragon boat, until Nov 9. The contests will primarily take place at the new Singapore Sports Hub and at various ActiveSG sports centres across the island.

The SNG is a multi-sport competition organised by Sport Singapore in collaboration with the National Sports Associations.
