Australia's Chief of Army, Lieutenant- General Angus Campbell, was yesterday conferred the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera), or Meritorious Service Medal (Military). Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen presented Lt-Gen Campbell the award at the Ministry of Defence. In a statement, Mindef said Lt-Gen Campbell received the award for his significant contributions towards strengthening defence ties between the Australian and Singapore armies, through bilateral and multilateral exercises.
