Twenty-eight brands - including SingTel, The Straits Times and Samsung - won the Superbrands awards at a prize-giving ceremony on Monday.

These brands were identified by Singapore consumers as their favourite brand within a respective product or service category. The results were based on a survey by independent market research company BDRC Asia, which polled 1,500 Singapore consumers aged 18 to 55 about their favourite brands across 106 product and service categories.

Winners include SingTel in the telecommunications and Internet service provider category, Samsung for televisions and Jean Yip in spa and beauty salons.

The Straits Times was voted Singapore's favourite newspaper for the third time, trumping seven other newspapers such as The New Paper, My Paper, Lianhe Zaobao, The Business Times, Berita Harian, Shin Min and Today.

Survey results showed that The Straits Times garnered four times the total number of votes compared to its nearest rival.
