SINGAPORE - The Singaporean and Indonesian armies successfully completed their annual bilateral exercise this morning with a closing ceremony at Murai Urban Training Facility.

Code-named Exercise Safkar Indopura, the event was first conducted in 1989 to underscore the close defence relations between the two countries.

The 12-day exercise was hosted by Singapore this year and involved 150 personnel each from the Singaporean and Indonesian armies conducting urban operations, live firing, a map planning exercise and a combined field training exercise.

The Ministry of Defence said: "These interactions have enhanced the interoperability between the two armies and helped foster mutual understanding between their personnel."
