Sinda awards students who have improved under Project Teach scheme

Ms Shankari Jeyaudin, 17, failed her Secondary 4 mathematics at the prelims but recorded a six grade improvement in the GCE 'O' level examinations, when she scored a B3.

Ms Shankari, who graduated from Bendemeer Secondary School, credits some of that improvement to the Project Teach programme by Sinda. The self-help group has, since 2001, held school-based supplementary sessions for weaker students.

On Friday evening, for the first time Sinda gave out awards to those who showed significant improvement. The awards were given out to those who did well in their Primary School Leaving Examinations, and GCE 'O' and 'N' Level examinations.

Ms Shankari, who is currently pursuing a diplomas in Information Technology at Republic Polytechnic said that her Project Teach teacher was engaging and used pneumonics to make remembering formulas easier.
