SGH and Mayo Clinic collaborate on new procedure to treat tennis elbow

A minimally invasive procedure has been developed to treat tennis elbow and help relieve pain.

Damaged tissue is identified via ultrasound imaging, and removed by inserting a probe the size of a toothpick. The whole procedure is performed under local anesthesia, and takes 15 to 20 minutes.

The procedure was part of a collaboration between the Singapore General Hospital and the Mayo Clinic in America.

Tennis elbow occurs when the tendons in the elbow are overworked, and - contrary to its name - mostly occurs in people who do not play tennis.
