Sex for contracts: Ex-SCDF chief Peter Lim arrives in court to face corruption charge

Former Singapore Civil Defence Force chief (SCDF) Peter Lim Sin Pang arrived at the Subordinate Courts, flanked by his lawyers, at around 9.10am on Monday for the start of his corruption trial.

Lim, 52, faces 10 counts of corruption in a sex-for-contracts case, similar to former anti-drug agency chief Ng Boon Gay's. However, as decided earlier, the prosecution will only proceed with one charge involving Ms Pang Chor Mui from Nimrod Engineering. She is expected to take the stand as a prosecution witness on Monday.

The remaining nine charges involve sex with two other women, Ms Esther Goh and Ms Lee Wei Hoon, both senior executives in NCS and the Singapore Radiation Centre respectively. The Attorney General's Chambers said these nine charges will be dealt with separately.

All three women were said to have given Lim sex or oral sex in 2010 and 2011 in exchange for help to advance their companies' business interests with the SCDF.

Lim, who is married, was arrested on Jan 4 last year by the CPIB, two weeks after former Central Narcotics Bureau director Ng, 44, was nabbed. Ng was acquitted last week of all four charges against him.

Under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Lim faces a fine of up to $100,000 and/or five years in prison.
