Seoul, US scientist receive honours

Mr Park accepted the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize on behalf of Seoul, which has seen a massive pedestrianisation and whose inhabitants are actively engaged in improving the city. The award includes a cash prize of $300,000 sponsored by Keppel Corp.

Professor Colwell, who received the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize for advancing the understanding of water microbiology science, delivered the Singapore Water Lecture yesterday. Her award also includes a $300,000 cash prize sponsored by the non-profit Temasek Foundation Innovates.
