In a fit of rage, an off-duty security guard kicked the front door of a bus smashing its glass panel. Muhammad Haslam Said, 24, paid the price for his anger on Monday when a district court jailed him for a week.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Koh Huimin told a district court that the SMRT bus service number 853 was travelling on the extreme left lane of the road in front of Khatib MRT station, when Muhammad Haslam pulled out of the taxi stand after allowing his wife to alight.
To avoid a collision, bus driver Lai Nyok Lim, 51 sounded the horn. Muhammad Haslam then stopped his car and accused the bus of hitting his car.
Mr Lai got down from the bus and found that there was no damage to the bus or the car. He also denied there was a collision. He then tried to drive off but Muhammad Haslam kicked the front door of the bus, shattering its glass panel. The incident was captured by two surveillance cameras mounted at the taxi stand. Muhammad Haslam has paid SMRT $850 to repair the door.
