At Dazhong Primary School, every P1 to P3 student learns music through the school’s String Ensemble (Violin) Music Programme. One of the programme’s major highlights is the Arts Education Programme (AEP) Recital, which serves as a milestone celebration of the students’ achievements and consolidation of what they have learnt over the last 3 years. During the AEP Violin Recital, students will showcase their talents through their violin performances.
Dazhong Primary School is also the only primary school in Singapore to have a full Junior Orchestra. The Junior Orchestra is an extension of the String Ensemble (Violin) Music Programme for P1 – P3 students who have shown an aptitude and interest in the performing arts.

From Primary 1 to 3, all Dazhong pupils have weekly free violin lessons as part of the school’s Arts Education: Learning for Life Programme.

SINGAPORE – Private violin lessons for beginners can cost anywhere from $160 to $320 a month.

Knowing that not every family can afford such classes, Dazhong Primary School started a programme in 2014 so that every pupil can learn the violin when he or she enters the school.
