Under protocol, schools know how and when to refer needy to agencies for appropriate aid

Something was eating the primary school girl. So when she confided in her school counsellor that she was afraid of her older brother because he had been rough with her, the school alerted Fei Yue Community Services' Family Service Centre in Choa Chu Kang.

Social worker Lin Feng was then roped in to investigate because the school feared there could be incidents of violence in the girl's home. But Mr Lin learnt it was a one-off incident and the parents were alerted to prevent a repeat of the incident.
