SCDF puts out Tuas factory fire, no injuries reported

A fire broke out at a factory located at 37 Tuas Basin Link on Tuesday night.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to it at 11.13pm and sent four fire engines, two red rhinos, five supporting vehicles and one ambulance to the location. Upon SCDF arrival, the fire was well alight and involved a production area of the factory that measured about 40m by 40m, SCDF said in a press statement.

At the height of the operation, firefighters encircled the factory area with a total of 11 water jets, including an aerial platform which was used for aerial firefighting. The fire was brought under control within one hour. About 50 SCDF personnel were involved, and firefighters are currently damping down the area with seven water jets.

There were no reported injuries in the latest update from SCDF on the situation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and it is known that it involved products used in the manufacturing of printing ink.
