The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will set up three more fire posts, one each in Sembawang, Jalan Buroh and Dover, this year, said commissioner Eric Yap.

Fire posts, much like neighbourhood police posts, are satellite fire stations that respond to relatively minor fires that happen near them. They were introduced in 2000 and are typically found in HDB void decks.

There are now 27 fire posts and 18 fire stations located islandwide and the new Tuas View Fire Station, is also on schedule to be completed by the end of 2013.

The latest additions were announced at the SCDF Workplan Seminar held at ITE College East on Friday morning.
