The Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce Foundation (SCCCF) has doubled its scholarship commitments to Singapore's four universities and Malay self-help group Mendaki.
It said in a statement on Friday that it will give a total of $480,000 to these institutions over three years. This is more than double its previous amount of $210,000. In previous years, SCCCF would also decide the amount given for each scholarships but now it will allow universities to do so independently. The scholarships are bond-free.
The Chamber is also adding the new Singapore University of Technology and Design to its list of recipients. The university will receive $20,000 each year. Scholarship amounts for the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and the Singapore Management University have all doubled to $40,000 while Yayasan Mendaki will receive $20,000, up from $10,000 previously.
The SCCCF has been giving out scholarships to outstanding local graduates since 1997. It is a subsidiary of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
