A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) regular serviceman lost consciousness during his own physical training in Nee Soon Camp yesterday at 8.05am, and was pronounced dead about an hour later at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH).

The Ministry of Defence said in a statement yesterday night that resuscitative efforts were administered immediately, and the serviceman was evacuated to Nee Soon Camp Medical Centre, and subsequently to KTPH via an SAF ambulance.

The statement added that an SAF medical officer and medics continued to resuscitate the man en route to KTPH. The ambulance arrived at KTPH at 8.37am, and the man was pronounced dead at 9.02am.

"The Ministry of Defence and the SAF extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late serviceman. The SAF is assisting the family in their time of grief," the statement said.
