SINGAPORE - The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has feted two of its medics for answering the call of duty while out with their peers recently.

In a post on The Singapore Army's Facebook page on Sunday (Feb 14) evening, SAF identified third sergeants Dinie Afiq and Zulfadi after they came to the aid of an elderly woman near Yishun MRT station on Feb 6.

She had slipped and fallen facedown at a flight of stairs, suffering lacerations on her forehead.

"3SG Dinie, 3SG Zulfadli and their peers, who happened to pass by, immediately sat her down, stopped the bleeding and applied bandage to her forehead," the post said.

The woman was then taken to hospital in an ambulance.

The incident was first shared on The Reservist, a community Facebook page for former army regulars and National Service men, on Feb 7.

Besides 3SG Dinie and 3SG Zulfadi, the post also named 3SG Hong Rui, 3SG Fahmi and 3SG Kishan. All five were from the SAF Medical Training Institute.

A sixth person, 3SG Jerrald, was said to be from the 1st Battalion, Singapore Guards.
