SINGAPORE - The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has detonated a suspected war relic that was found at Senoko Drive on Monday (Dec 7).

The projectile was found at a construction site, and looked to be embedded in the ground near some concrete pillars.

The SAF's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was called to assist.

"The team worked through the night and safely disposed the 6-inch relic on site at midnight," the Singapore Army said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Dec 8) evening.

It added: "A big thank you to our EOD team for always being ready to keep Singapore safe!"

It also posted photos that show the EOD team assessing the relic, sandbags during the disposal and fragments of the relic.

The disposal of a war relic is not an uncommon occurence, with about 11 incidences mentioned on the Singapore Army Facebook page this year.

Most recently, one was found and disposed of at Senja Link in November, while others have been disposed of in areas like Tampines, Nanyang Crescent and Rifle Range Road.
