SAF and RSAF to conduct military and live firing exercises over the next month

SINGAPORE - Military exercises will be conducted by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) at a number of places across Singapore for a week starting next Monday (April 11) at 8am.

The exercises, which will involve the use of blanks and thunderflashes, will be conducted at Seletar, Marsiling, Jalan Bahar, Neo Tiew, Lim Chu Kang, Jalan Kwok Min, Tuas, Upper Jurong, Hong Kah, Ama Keng, Bedok Jetty, Kranji, Lentor, Simpang, Sembawang, Mandai, said the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) in a statement on Friday.

The SAF military exercises will end on April 18, 8am.

During the same period, the SAF will also be conducting live firing exercises in the Pasir Laba (Safti) live firing area. Live ammunition and flares will be used and sea vessels sailing through the western Johor Strait should keep within the 75m navigable sea lane and not stray into the live firing boundary, Mindef said.

Members of the public should also expect loud noises due to increased flying activities from next Monday (Apr 18) toApril 29, as the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will be conducting military exercises.

The RSAF will also be conducting daily live firing exercises around Pulau Sudong, Pulau Pawai and Pulau Senang - proclaimed manoeuvring and firing grounds - from next Monday (Apr 11) to Sunday (Apr 17). Flares will be released during night firing.

The public is advised not to be alarmed and to keep clear of these areas and to stay clear of the prohibited waters off Changi Naval Base and Tuas Naval Base.
