Two members of all-female punk band Pussy Riot will be among several international artists who will be in Singapore next week to attend the inaugural Prudential Eye Awards. The group has been nominated for the Prudential Eye Awards in the digital/video category for their performances, including the "punk prayer".

Ms Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Ms Maria Alyokhina will be attending the Jan 18 awards ceremony, which recognises artistic talent from across greater Asia.

The pair and fellow activist Yekaterina Samutsevich, 31, were convicted on charges of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred after staging a "punk prayer" in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in February 2012. The duo were recently released from jail in December last year following a Kremlin-backed amnesty bill.

Other guests for the awards includes Chinese artist Liu Xiaodong, Italian singer and actress Serena Autieri and Korean movie star Ha Jung-woo.

The nominated artists are from 28 countries including Australia, Saudi Arabia and Japan and were shortlisted into five categories of four artists each - painting, photography, sculpture, installation and digital/video.

Five category winners and one overall winner will be announced. The overall winner will have his exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London in 2015.

These works will be on display at Suntec City Mall from Jan 17 to Feb 5 for public viewing
