Road closures around Parliament House and Istana for state funeral of Mr Lee Kuan Yew

SINGAPORE - Special traffic arrangements have been made for the wake and state funeral of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

From Wednesday to Saturday, the body of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew will lie in state at Parliament House, where the public can pay their respects between 10am and 8pm daily.

Lanes and roads around Parliament House will be closed to vehicular traffic at various times starting from 8.30am on Wednesday until 8pm on Sunday, the Traffic Police said on Monday. The affected stretches are on Fullerton Road, Parliament Place, Saint Andrew's Road, Connaught Drive and North Bridge Road.

The Traffic Police advised motorists to plan their route to take into account traffic delays along Hill Street, High Street and North Bridge Road. People going to Parliament House should take public transport, as the carpark will be closed to all vehicles except those with authorised labels.

On Wednesday, a gun carriage will carry Mr Lee's coffin from Istana to Parliament House. Orchard Road (between Buyong Road and Selegie Road), Bras Basah Road (between Selegie Road and North Bridge Road) and North Bridge Road (between Bras Basah Road and North Boat Quay) will be closed from 8.45am to 9.30am that morning.

There may be delays along these affected roads as well. Vehicles parked illegally along these roads will be towed away.
