Flash flood in Jurong Town Hall Road; warning issued for Dunearn Road

SINGAPORE – A flash flood occurred in Jurong Town Hall Road (towards the PIE) before Jurong East Street 11 on the morning of Aug 24, with motorists urged by PUB to avoid the road for the next hour, till about 9am.
A flash flood warning was also issued for Dunearn Road – from Yarwood Avenue to Binjai Park – by the national water agency on social media platform X at about 7.20am.
At 8.10am, PUB reported that the flash flood in Jurong Town Hall Road had subsided.
Earlier, at about 6.40am, PUB warned that heavy rain was expected over many areas of the island from 6.50am to 8am.
The National Environment Agency’s Meteorological Service Singapore said on Aug 15 that short-duration thundery showers are expected over parts of the island between the late morning and afternoon on most days till the end of August.
On a few days, the passage of Sumatra squalls may bring widespread thundery showers and gusty winds between the pre-dawn and morning.
Rainfall for the second fortnight of August is likely to be near average over most parts of Singapore.
