Retailers' association holds Dancing with the Stars gala to raise funds for charity

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Retailers Association (SRA) will be holding a charity gala on Sunday as part of SG50 celebrations.

The Dancing with the Stars gala will feature world renowned dance band Empress Orchestra from Blackpool, United Kingdom, and a line-up of guest performers such as professional ballroom dancers Domen Krapez and Natascha Karabey.

The gala is not open to the public. SRA has invited businessmen and its business associates from the retail industry, and celebrity show dancers from the Asia Pacific region.

Mr Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Education and chairman of the SG50 Steering Committee, will be the guest-of-honour.

Nett proceeds from the gala will be donated to four beneficiaries. Canossian School, a special education school for the hearing impaired, will receive $100,000. The rest of the proceeds will be split equally among the Community Chest, the fund-raising arm of National Council of Social Service; Women's Initiative for Ageing Successfully (Wings), which helps women aged above 40 deal with ageing; and the Singapore Art Museum.
