Rehearsal for state funeral procession early Friday morning

SINGAPORE - Roads around the Parliament House area were closed to traffic early Friday morning to allow a rehearsal for the state funeral procession of Mr Lee Kuan Yew to take place.

Roads that were affected included North Bridge Road, South Bridge Road, High Street and Parliament Place. They were closed after midnight to 5am.

Parking restrictions were strictly enforced and access to affected roads were granted only to police and emergency vehicles.

The funeral service for the late Mr Lee will take place at the University Cultural Centre (UCC) at the National University of Singapore on Sunday afternoon, preceded by the procession from Parliament House to the university.

Covering a distance of about 15km, it will pass several landmarks and heartlan areas. Members of the public can line the route from Parliament House to UCC.
