A bigger and better Safra Toa Payoh was officially opened Tuesday evening.
After a $52 million revamp, the club now boasts of a 24,000 sq m floor space that is three times larger than its original facility. Since the club opened last October, more than 100,000 members have been passing through its doors each month, making it the most popular of the five Safra clubs.
Guest-of-honour President Tony Tan Keng Yam said Safra's membership base has increased steadily over the years to over 230,000, reflecting its growing appeal. "Safra's growth is testament to our continued commitment to see Safra serve more NSmen, and serve them better," he added.
Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen and Acting Minister for Social and Family Development and the Senior Minister of State for Defence Chan Chun Sing, were among the guests at the event.
