SINGAPORE - Singapore's aquatic athletes have decided to drop the tag Red Lions as it was already taken by the Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF) elite skydiving team.
The name clash raised an outcry from soldiers and the SAF, and members of the public criticised the swimming body for failing to come up with an original name.
The athletes themselves took it in their stride.

So what should the aquatic athletes, which include the swimming, water polo, diving and synchronised swimming teams, call themselves now?
Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong had a suggestion: The Sea Lions.
"After all, Singapore is surrounded by the sea and our swimmers aim to be champions in the coming SEA Games," Mr Goh said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
A number of other names have also been suggested, including: Red Singas, Red Merlions, MerLions, the Red Waves and Aquamen.
The DJs at FM91.3 suggested some tongue-in-cheek names too.
