Individuals canvassing for donations and claiming to be from the Singapore Red Cross are scammers, warned Singapore Red Cross in a statement on Friday.

The organisation said it had received notifications about several cases where individuals have even gone to the extent of carrying fake fundraising licences and falsified documents with the Singapore Red Cross logo.

The organisation clarified that it currently has no door-to-door or street fundraising activities. Members of the public are advised not to donate if they come across these individuals, but to report them to the police or call the charity at 6664-0500.

The Singapore Red Cross has made a police report and the authorities are investigating the matter.
