Residents in three blocks at Telok Blangah Crescent got a refresher course on how to keep dengue at bay as more than 20 volunteers went around on Sunday morning to spread the word about "Do the Mozzie Wipeout at Radin Mas".

This is an initiative by Radin Mas MP Sam Tan and the Radin Mas grassroots organisations, to remind residents to keep mosquitoes away through simple acts such as overturning water storage containers and covering bamboo pole holders when not in use.

Mr Tan and more than 20 members from the Dengue Prevention Volunteer Group visited about 200 flats in the area on Sunday.

Before Sunday's wipeout event, 51 grassroots volunteers from Radin Mas had already been trained in dengue prevention by National Environment Agency officers.

They will continue to raise awareness of dengue prevention after Sunday's event and conduct checks in the estate's common areas and along common corridors to identify potential mosquito breeding spots. They will also reach out to more residents at house visits and community events.

These volunteers will be armed with items such as bamboo pole holder caps, insect repellent and a dropper and container set for them to isolate mosquito larvae.
