SINGAPORE - The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will sound an “Important Message” signal through the islandwide Public Warning System (PWS) on Sept 15, at 6.20pm.
SCDF on its website advised the public to not be alarmed by the minute-long sounding exercise.
In a Facebook post on Sept 8, SCDF said a signal will also go off for 20 seconds on all smartphones with the SGSecure mobile app, where the app’s notifications and alert settings have been enabled.
The “Important Message” signal is meant to alert the population to an important broadcast on the radio, SCDF said.
Upon hearing the signal, people should tune in immediately to any local radio or TV channels for a brief message on the three PWS signals and what the public should do upon hearing the signals, SCDF said.
Each year, SCDF sounds the “Important Message” signal on Feb 15 and Sept 15 at 6.20pm.
