Members of the public may now vote for their preferred names for the 16 Thomson Line (TSL) stations. Starting from Thursday, they may vote online through the Land Transport Authority's (LTA) portal at http://talk2lta.lta.gov.sg until June 17.

Six of the 22 stations - Woodlands, Caldecott, Stevens, Orchard, Outram Park and Marina Bay - are excluded from this exercise as they would already be operating on other lines before the first stretch of the TSL opens in 2019.

Names on the list are from over 4,000 suggestions received for the earlier TSL naming exercise conducted between Jan 8 and Feb 17 this year. This is more than the 3,000 received during a similar exercise for the 13 Downtown Line 3 stations in 2011.

Results of the polling will be collated and finalised names will be sent to Street and Building Names Board for final approval before the official names are announced in August.
