SINGAPORE- A power outage affected 23 blocks in the Bukit Batok estate for about two hours on Friday (July 31) morning.
It is not known what caused the disruption in electicity supply. A spokesman for Singapore Power said that they are investigating the incident.
"Our officers were immediately deployed on site, and our priority was to restore supply safely as soon as possible," the spokesman added.
The disruption started at about 7.10am, and electricity was gradually restored. It was fully restored two hours later.
Evening daily Shin Min reported that many of the affected blocks were in Bukit Batok West Ave 8, and that traffic lights in the area did not function.
The paper quoted a resident saying that the traffic situation was chaotic as cars did not give way to people. Traffic police were later seen directing traffic.
The paper also quoted the ward's MP David Ong saying that there was a youth trapped in one of the lifts, but that staff from the Town Council helped to release him.
