Rescuers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) have set up a Life Pack - a large air cushion designed to break the fall of a person when he lands - at the foot of an HDB block in Chai Chee.

A net was also hung from a unit on the eight floor of the block by SCDF officers, purportedly to prevent anyone from jumping out of the windows in the units below.

The Straits Times understands that police operations have been underway at a flat on the sixth floor since 10.30am Friday, to disarm an occupant who is said to be holding a chopper.
