Police officer, MOM officer charged with corruptly getting sexual favours

A police officer and a manpower investigation officer were brought to court on Tuesday to face charges of getting sexual favours.

Staff Sergeant Parthivan Ramaya, 32, of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, allegedly obtained bribes in the form of physical intimacy and sex from Dwi Sulistiani in return for recommending leniency in the investigation of her theft case. He is accused of obtaining physical intimacy from her in an interview room within the station on Jan 4 this year.

On the same day, he allegedly obtained sex and physical intimacy from Dwi on three other occasions - twice at his Yishun flat and at a stairwell along Fernvale Road. His case has been fixed for a pre-trial conference on April 25.

In the same court, Ministry of Manpower senior investigation officer Norezwan Em, 27, allegedly obtained sexual favours from Chinese national Liu Lihua to help extend her stay in Singapore at a park near Clementi West Street 1 on Oct 30 last year. He is accused of corruptly obtaining sexual favours from her at Oxley Hotel 88 in Geylang on Nov 2 and 6 last year.

He will appear in court again on May 7. If convicted, each of them can be fined up to $100,000 and/or jailed for up to five years on each charge.
