Police have arrested a 19-year-old man suspected of stealing a motorcycle for a joyride.

On July 3 this year, a man reported that his motorcycle had been stolen from a car park near Yishun Ring Road. Police recovered the stolen vehicle after extensive ground inquiries at a service road near Fernvale Road on July 5.

After further investigations, the identity of the suspect was established. He was arrested in the vicinity of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 on Thursday.

The suspect will be charged in court on Aug 16. The offence of stealing a motor vehicle carries a maximum penalty of seven years' jail and a fine.

In a statement, the police urged motorcycle owners to always keep their vehicle keys with them, and not to leave them unattended.
