Police have arrested a 51-year-old man in connection with a Stirling Road robbery that was reported on Saturday.

The victim, a 15-year-old female, reported to the police at midnight that she had been robbed of her $400 mobilephone.

This after the suspect, on the pretext of borrowing her phone to make a call, ran off with it. He also assaulted her in the midst of a scuffle.

Officers from Clementi Police Division, however, managed to trace and arrested the suspect in the vicinity of Henderson Crescent on Tuesday at about 11.30 am.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to be responsible for another case of snatch theft in the vicinity of Bukit Batok East on Jan 11, said the police in a statement on Tuesday.
