Police on Friday arrested a 21-year-old man believed to be involved in a series of armed robbery at convenience stores in the last week.
In a statement, police said that they had received reports between last Friday and Thursday of a spate of five cases of armed robbery targeting convenience stores at Lavender Street, Changi Road, Guillemard Road and Punggol Central.
Officers from Bedok Police Division, Central Police Division and Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the suspect's identity after extensive ground enquiries. The suspect was arrested at the vicinity of Geylang Road just past midnight on Friday at 12.05am.
If convicted, the man faces a jail term of up to 14 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
