Police arrest man suspected of stealing $80,000 from a vehicle

SINGAPORE - A 46-year-old man has been arrested for suspected involvement in a case of theft along Race Course Road, police said in a press release on Thursday (March 23).

Police received a report at about 3pm on Monday from the driver of a vehicle informing them that cash amounting to $80,000 and other items such as his wallet and name card holder had been stolen from his vehicle.

Officers from Central Division investigated and with the aid of CCTV footage were able to establish the identity of the suspect.

The suspect was arrested in the vicinity of the Singapore General Hospital at about 2.55am on Thursday.

Investigations against the suspect are ongoing. Anyone found guilty of theft from a vehicle may be jailed for up to three years, fined, or both.
