Police arrest armed robber who allegedly targeted same convenience store twice

A 47-year-old male has been arrested for his involvement in at least two incidents of armed robbery at a convenience store in Bukit Batok.

The suspect entered the convenience store at Block 523 Bukit Batok St 52 at 1 am on Monday morning. Armed with a penknife, he robbed the staff of about $300 in cash and fled. Later that night, the suspect returned to the same store at about 11.30pm and robbed the store of about $450 in cash, and cigarettes and liquor.

No one was injured in both incidents.

Officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him at Bukit Batok Street 52 at about 6.50 pm on Tuesday. The shirt the suspect wore while committing the robbery and the stolen packet of cigarettes were recovered as exhibits. The suspect will be charged in court on Thursday. If convicted, he may be jailed up to 14 years and may receive up to 12 strokes of the cane.
