Police arrest 108 people for suspected vice, drug, gang activities in joint operation

A joint operation conducted by the police, Central Narcotics Bureau and the Singapore Civil Defence Force ended in the arrest of 108 people suspected of gang-related activities, vice-related activities, and as drug-related offences.

The officers conducted a series of raids and checks at various locations including shop-houses, entertainment outlets, coffee shops, youth hangouts, and back-alleys in areas like South Bridge Road, Clarke Quay and Orchard Road, the police said in a statement on Saturday.

In the operation which ended early on Saturday morning, 21 men and 87 women aged between 17 and 43 were arrested.

Anyone who knowingly lives on the earnings of a prostitute may face up to five years in jail, a fine of up to $10,000.

Investigations against the other arrested suspects are ongoing.
